Peggy Radel, Ph.D. is a patent agent at Shay Glenn LLP, focusing on all aspects of patent prosecution, preparation and IP diligence investigations to support client IP strategy and portfolio development. Dr. Radel has experience across a wide spectrum of technologies including medical device, microfluidics, biotechnology, and chemistry (fluorescence-based bioanalysis, nucleic acid sequencing, polymers, and medicinal chemistry).

Prior to joining Shay Glenn, Dr. Radel worked for Berkeley Lights, Inc., supporting its microfluidic electrokinetic platforms and digital biology workflows, working in partnership with diverse teams to provide strategic IP coverage. She previously worked for Thermo Fisher Scientific, supporting its genetic analyses and fluorescence detection business sectors. She also worked for the IP Counseling and Patent Group at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, PC, representing a wide range of early stage companies, including medical device, biotechnology and medicinal chemistry clients.

Before entering the IP field, Dr. Radel worked in both medicinal chemistry and fluorescent dye research at a variety of early stage companies as well as established companies such as Applied Biosystems (now Thermo Fisher Scientific) and Procter & Gamble.

Dr. Radel obtained her Ph.D. in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, and her B.S. in Chemistry from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She also was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, San Francisco within the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department. Dr. Radel is registered to practice before the United Patent and Trademark Office.
